This School District Ranks Best In Capital Region, Report Says

When it comes to getting a quality education in the Capital Region, one school district is a cut above the rest, according to a new report.

The North Colonie Central School District in Latham was ranked No. 1 in the Albany metro area, according to Niche's 2023 rankings.

In Albany County, the North Colonie Central School District in Latham was ranked No. 1 in the Albany metro area, according to Niche’s new 2023 rankings.

The district received an overall grade of A+, with high marks in the categories of academics, teachers, college prep, and clubs & activities.

It received an A for sports, and A- for diversity, administration, and resources & facilities.

There’s work to do in the lunchroom, however, as the district only holds a C+ rating in the food category.

It makes up for the apparent subpar cafeteria offerings with an excellent student-teacher ratio of 13 to 1, according to the report.

The North Colonie Central School District has an average graduation rate of 95 percent, with 75 percent of students proficient in math and 68 proficient in reading.

Rounding out the top three school districts in the Albany area are the Bethlehem Central School district in Delmar, and the Niskayuna Central School District in Schenectady at No. 2 and No. 3 respectively.
